Bunk bed mattresses most commonly come in twin and full size, built to fit these childrens beds.

A bunk bed is a popular style for a kid’s bedroom and can be one of the best options in a smaller room. With one bunk on top of the other it allows two beds to be located in a space which would normally be taken up by only one. In many cases the bunk bed frame is sold on its own and this means that you will have to consider purchasing bunk bed mattresses separately.

The first think to consider when looking into bunk bed mattresses is the size required. Most bunk beds are constructed in a twin bed style therefore this will be the size of mattress required. However there are many bunk beds that are manufactured as twin over full size. This has a twin size bunk bed on the top and a larger, full size bed on the bottom. In this case two different sizes of mattresses will be required. It can be worth measuring the frame size of a bunk bed when looking for a mattress as this can allow you to check the mattress size you select and ensure it is correct. It is best to get a mattress that fits snugly in the frame as this will ensure it does not move around when the bed is being used.

Once you have determined the correct size of mattress there are a few options to consider. Bunk bed mattresses come in a few different varieties. This can include foam mattresses and inner sprung mattresses and these are available in harder and softer varieties. This allows you to select a style that is most comfortable for the person that will be using the bed. Inner sprung mattresses have wire coils inside them to provide the firmness and usually the wider the coils are the firmer the mattress will be. Foam mattresses are made entirely of foam and with the advent of memory foam these have become a more popular choice over recent years. As it is used memory foam molds to the contours of the sleeper and this can make it a more comfortable option than standard foam.

When you are purchasing bunk bed mattresses one of the best ways to do this is to get the sleeper to try it out in the store. This can be the best way of finding a suitable and more importantly comfortable mattress. A bad mattress can lead to problems such as back and neck ache and will not provide a good nights sleep. It therefore pays to do a little research and find the best mattress for the budget you have available.

There are many places that bunk bed mattresses are sold and this ranges from local furniture stores to national furniture stores such as Ikea and many of the larger discount and department stores. When considering costs for mattresses, this will usually be dependent on the size, thickness and material. Typical prices can range between around $100 at the more affordable end of the market to $500 plus for some of the higher quality foam and inner sprung mattresses on the market.

If you buy a bunk bed for your children then it may be that the mattresses will have to be purchased separately. However, bunk bed mattresses are widely available and there are a number of options to choose from. This should make finding a comfortable mattress for your child’s bunk bed a relatively straightforward task.

The folding bed makes a great form of guest furniture, with fold up and fold out frames and boards in single and double size.

There are many large pieces of furniture that are required when fitting out a home with one of these being the bed. As most people spend around 8 hours a night sleeping, a bed is a location where you will spend a lot of time and it therefore needs to be comfortable. There are a few different types available and if space is at a premium in your home then a folding bed is an option to consider. These come in a few different styles and can be a good space saving option for your home.

Although a folding bed may not always be the first choice for a main bed in your home there can be many advantages in using them for other purposes. A folding bed can be a good option in a spare room, as in its folded up position it takes up less space that can be utilized for other purposes. If you have frequent visitors to your home a folding bed is a simple way to provide them with somewhere to sleep without having to go to the expense of buying a full bed.

Folding beds come in a few different varieties. The most common comprises a metal frame and mattress which has a central hinge. This allows the bed to be folded in half for more compact storage. In its upright folded position it can easily be stored against a wall or in a cupboard and many have wheels making them easy to roll around. It is also possible to lie the folded bed down and in this position it can easily be stored under a full bed. These beds are not overly expensive to purchase and most can be found in a price range of $100 to $200.

Another type of folding bed is the sofa bed. This can be a more appealing option to many people as it serves a dual purpose. In its folded up position it works as a sofa and can be used during the day. However when needed as a bed it can quickly be transformed into this for sleeping on. They can work in a couple of ways. In some the back of the sofa folds down into a horizontal position. In others the bed frame is folded into the seat of the sofa and can simply be pulled out and extended to its full size when required. These are typically a little more expensive with prices usually starting at around $150 to $200 although can rise as high as $500 plus.

A type of folding bed that has been around for many years was traditionally known as a Murphy bed. These folding beds are also known as wall beds. They are full sized beds which have the head hinged against the wall. When not in use they can be folded into an upright position against a wall. Some can also be built into a cabinet and when the doors are close it is not even apparent that there is a bed there. This can be a great space saving option for a smaller home and can be used in a main bedroom or a spare room. With the bed folded out of the way it provides much more space in a bedroom. These are more expensive to install with costs typically starting in a price range of around $500 to $1,000. For higher quality installations this can increase to $4,000 plus.

A Folding bed can be an excellent choice for use in your home. Whether you want it as a main bed or as a spare bed for use with guests it is a simple space saving device. If you live in a smaller home, this can make it worth considering to provide you with a little more space. This can help to make your home a more comfortable place to live.

Metal bed frames are made in iron, brass, and steel for king, queen, full, and twin beds in canopy, platform and more styles.

Most people want to make the rooms in their home attractive and this is as true in the bedroom as any other. The bed is usually the largest piece of furniture in this room and this tends to make it the focal point. Having an attractive bed is therefore a key requirement in the overall style of the room. However it also needs to be comfortable as it is a place you will spend a lot of time. There are a few options for bed styles these days although metal bed frames can be one of the most decorative to choose.

Metal bed frames can vary from the plain and simple look to highly ornate and decorative pieces. The plain style typically comprises a metal frame with a basic headboard. The frame will be constructed with a small lip such that the mattress sits securely in places and is unlikely to slip of the bed. For the most part, on these types of beds the metal frame cannot be seen as the mattress and bed sheets will cover it.

The decorative style of metal bed frames on the other hand is designed for display with the intention being to provide an attractive centerpiece for your bedroom. It can include a number of ornate features including headboards and footboards with metal latticework or scrolling details. It can also feature bedposts which are capped with ornaments which are known as balloons or caps.

Metal bed frames are manufactured in many different styles to suit most tastes. This can range from an antique Victorian style to art deco and more contemporary looks. Therefore whatever style you are aiming for in a bedroom you should be able to find a metal framed bed to coordinate with this. Using metal for the frame of the bed has a few advantages. It is a sturdy, durable material that should last a long time and keep your bed comfortable. It can also be fashioned into many attractive looks.

There are few different metals that can be used for metal bed frames with steel being common. However the more visible parts of the frame such as the headboard and footboard can be fashioned from more attractive metals with brass and wrought iron being extensively used. The cost of a bed with a metal frame will typically depend on the size of the bed and the material used. However, smaller basic steel frames for a bed can be found for around $100 to $150. If you are looking for something larger and more ornate the cost will rises and can easily reach $500 and greater.

Beds with a metal frame can be found for sale in a number of locations. Local furniture shops can be one of the best laces to look although they are also widely available in department stores and internet retailers. Some of the places to look include JC Penney, which has a number of affordable metal framed beds on offer, Platform Beds and One Way Furniture.

Metal bed frames can provide the bedrooms in your home with an attractive look. Whether you are searching for a basic bed frame or something more ornate, metal can be the best choice and this makes it a good option for your home.

The metal bunk bed is a great bedroom piece for kids, with both frame and futon models easy to find in full and twin sizes.

If you live in a family home with children then there are a few options for the types of bed you use in their bedrooms. If you have children sharing it can get a little cramped as there will be at least two of everything required. However a simple option is to use a metal bunk bed and this is a fun style that most kids will enjoy sleeping in.

The obvious benefit of using a metal bunk bed is for its space saving properties. The style has two beds, one on top of the other. This means you can fit two beds in a space which would normally be occupied by only one bed. This in turn means there is more space in a room for other uses and furniture. A bunk bed can be used in any size of room although it is especially useful in smaller rooms where there is less space available to fit in two or more separate single beds.

Typically a metal bunk bed is a style of bed used for older children. Most kid’s like the style and will usually want to sleep in the top bunk. The bed will come with an attached ladder to provide access to the top bunk and this also usually has guardrails around it for safety purposes. The bottom bunk can be designed the same size as the top bunk or it is possible to get metal bunk beds where the bottom bunk is a larger size than the top. The metal most typically used is steel and this provides a bed with a contemporary, modern style. While the natural steel look can be used, many bunk beds in metal are provided with powder coating. This can both protect the steel below and provide the bed with a more decorative look as it can be applied in a range of colors.

There are a number of manufacturers that produce the metal bunk bed style and some of these include Coaster Furniture Company, Powell Furniture and 2K Furniture design. These produce a range of sizes of bunk beds in metal and their websites are typically good places to look for details of the various products they have available. Other places to look include furniture stores and department stores which will typically have a few bunk beds in metal on offer.

In terms of the cost metal bunk beds at the more affordable end of the market can cost around $150 to $200. An example of this is the Metal Bunk Bed with Guard Rails and Ladder from 2K Furniture design which costs around $190 to purchase. This is manufactured from metal tubing and can be used as a single bunk bed or split up to form two separate beds as required.

At the more expensive end of the market a metal bunk bed can cost $500 plus. Powell Furniture produces the Monster Bedroom Full Bunk Bed which costs around $550. This is manufactured from heavy gauge tubular steel frames and has a twin size upper bunk with a full size bed below. It is an attractive style with chrome plated inserts adding to this.

A metal bunk bed can be a good option in a bedroom which children share. The sturdy, durable metal design means that it will cope well with the rigors placed on it and this should ensure years of use. They are also attractive beds that kids usually enjoy sleeping in and this makes it a good choice when looking for the beds for your children.

Loft Beds

The metal loft bed is a bunk bed without the bottom bed, usually featuring a steel frame to provide sturdy piece that gives extra floor space.

If you live in a smaller home you have to be more creative with your use of space to provide a layout in the various rooms that works well. A good way of doing this in a bedroom, especially in one for an older child, is to use a metal loft bed. This is a style of bed that the majority of kids will like and it can easily be used in a smaller room to provide more floor space.

For those unaware of the style, a metal loft bed is designed in a similar style to that of bunk beds. However with a loft bed the lower bunk is removed. Typically it will have a ladder leading up to the higher bed level where an older child can sleep. The bed will usually have guard rails around it for safety to stop someone falling out.

A major benefit of the metal loft bed style is that the space below the bed is free for other use. While many of the beds on the market come with only free space below them, others are set up for a particular purpose. Some have a desk space set up below them and this can be ideal for a student as the desk space provides a place to work. Other loft beds can come with storage space, drawers or cabinets below them. Others still can be set up with comfortable seating areas. There is a wide selection to choose from and if space is at a premium in the bedrooms in your home the loft bed set up can be a good choice.

Typically a metal loft bed will be made of steel. While this can be an attractive look there are many that are produced with a powder coating which comes in a number of colors. Whatever the décor of your home therefore it is possible to find a loft bed in metal that will fit in. They are typically contemporary looking and can bring a modern look to a bedroom. Metal is also a durable and hard wearing material so is ideal in a kid’s room where it should be able to cope with the use it will get and last a long time.

If the metal loft bed style is something that you would like to use in your home there are a few companies that manufacture these. Room Doctor Furniture Company is one of these and they produce the Black Desk Loft with Futon Chair. This is manufactured in sturdy metal with a built in ladder and corner desk. It also comes with a desk and futon chair. This is one of the more expensive loft beds on the market at around $670.

If you are looking for a more affordable loft bed manufactured from metal one of the companies to consider is Walker Edison. They produce a loft bed from metal with free space below which is finished with a powder coating in black or white. This bed costs around $220 to purchase. Other manufacturers of metal beds in the loft style include the Coaster Furniture Company and Powell Company.

The metal loft bed style can be a good set up for a child’s bedroom. Most kid’s will find it a fun style of bed and the fact that it provides space below it for other purposes can be a major advantage in a smaller room. For this reason it can be a good piece of furniture to use in your home.

Metal headboards are a beautiful bed furniture piece for king, queen, and full size beds alike.

What’s the first thing you notice when you walk into someone’s bedroom for the first time? More than likely, it’s their bed and more specifically, it’s the headboard. Metal headboards add style and romance to a room. They bring the luxury of brass beds to mind. Originally, brass beds were simply constructed, but as their popularity grew so did their opulence. They’re now a symbol of a more luxurious time. Brass is not the option in metal headboards.

Currently, metal beds are enjoying a revival in popularity. The special look metal headboards bring to a bedroom cannot be matched and the price is super affordable. It’s the potency and sheen of metal that draws in customers. There’s something rich and sensual about a metal headboard. Metal headboards are typically alloys, which are a blend of two metals. This is done to increase the strength of the metal as pure metals tend to be soft. However, metal beds can suffer from oxidation so you want a finish that is impervious to both moisture and rust.

Metal headboards can be simple construction or quite elaborate. A more simply constructed headboard can evoke contemporary or modern décor. A more elaborate, ornate headboard calls to mind a more romantic, Victorian, or even French theme. Reflect on your decorating choices prior to picking out a metal headboard that echoes that theme. The other furniture pieces in the room typically match the headboard. At minimum, the pieces should blend together so one piece does not stick out from the arrangement. Blending wood pieces with a metal headboard can warm up the coolness metal headboards can suggest. Metal headboards can be purchased in a variety of colors and finishes. Brushed nickel, iron, and brass all create a rich sense of detail in a bedroom. Metal headboards can also be painted in white or black, or any color you’d like to give a clean, contemporary look.

Shopping for metal headboards is no more complicated than shopping for any other piece of furniture in your home. Start with local stores, department stores such as J.C. Penney, and Macy’s. You can even look at retailers such as Wal-mart, Target and Sears, and even Costco. Check online with retailers such as Amazon, and the online offerings of stores like Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel. There are even stores that specialize in bedroom furniture like homeandbedroom.com, bedroomfurniturenmore.com, and totalbedroom.com. There are also websites that even further concentrate on headboards, such as HeadboardSource.com, headboardstore.com, and theheadboardstore.com. There are even stores that focus on metal headboards like IronBedsUSA.com and IronBedGallery.com. You can even check quality name brand furniture sites such as Bassett, Ballard, Lane, and Lexington. You want to ensure that your metal headboards are well crafted.

Wrought iron bed frames are typically antique in nature, often making a great frame for canopy beds.

The appeal of wrought iron bed frames is in their grace, stirring shape, warmth, and artistry. A wrought iron bed brings something to the bedroom that a wood frame cannot: a sense of exquisiteness and beauty. Our bedrooms are our sanctuary in our microwaved world of pressure. Don’t you want the centerpiece of your haven to be an item of singular beauty? Wrought iron bed frames are fashioned from pipes and bars shaped in a beautiful design secured by castings.

It’s this unique design that brings flair to any décor. From Victorian to shabby chic to cottage to contemporary, there is a wrought iron bed frame for you. If your style is more contemporary, choose a plainer designed wrought iron frame. For a Victorian look, you may want to shop ornate, elaborate wrought iron bed frames. The more detailed the design, the more romantic the look of the bed.

Wrought iron bed frames are sturdy and built to last. Antique wrought iron bed frames are available because these beds are constructed with the intent that they last a lifetime. Beware of mislaid or loose side rails or hitches. (A hitch is where the rail attaches to the bed frame.) If the bed wobbles, don’t buy it. Don’t buy a rusting bed. You may think it’s charming now, but you won’t find the stains on your bed linens delightful.

Wrought iron bed frames are available in the canopy style as well. How opulent in your daughter’s bedroom! This is a lavish showpiece for her room that adds a sense of warmth and security. Wrought iron bed frames can be purchased in twin, full, queen or king. They are extremely sturdy and thus can support a large amount of weight. The metal itself is offered in various finishes from darks to lighter tones. There is a wrought iron bed frame to match your style and personality.

You can find wrought iron bed frames from a variety of stores. Any furniture store carrying bedroom furniture will offer at least a few wrought iron styles. However, there are many stores specializing in wrought iron bed frames, such as The Wrought Iron Company, American Iron Bed, and Charles P. Rogers. Many online merchants carry wrought iron beds as well, such as Iron Accents and GI Designs. Amazon, Carolina Rustica, and Beds and Bedding all carry a selection of wrought iron bed frames.

Shop around for the best price on your wrought iron bed frames. You should also consider sales. Shopping online offers more convenience. You can check prices and compare from vendor to vendor much more easily. If you find a bed you like and have time, you can watch prices. Many places offer free shipping on your wrought iron bed frame.

Bookcase headboards in king, queen, and full size all add a great layer of style and functionality to a bed.

One of our favorite headboard pieces, though not typically a metal one, happens to be bookcase headboards for a number of reasons.

A headboard is a major purchase because it defines the décor in your bedroom. The headboard sets the tone and mood of your entire space. The headboard draws the eye upon entry. It is the spot that broadcasts your personality and temperament to visitors as soon as they enter the room. In today’s world we spend tons of time in our bedrooms wide awake: watching television, working on the computer, perhaps even working out. It’s more important than ever that our bedrooms serve as a restful escape.

Bookcase headboards provide function that other headboards do not. A headboard is not a necessity. Its primary function is to hold the pillows on the bed and provide décor. A bookcase headboard, however, fuses form with function. Bookcase headboards allow you to store and showcase books, knickknacks, and collectibles. You can even purchase bookcase headboards featuring built in lighting to provide nighttime radiance. And the top surface of a bookcase headboard provides a built-in nightstand space.

Bookcase headboards are constructed from wood or metal. They can be made of bronze, copper, nickel, or metal painted black or white. They are available in maple, oak, cherry or any other wood used to make furniture. Look for reputable brands like Lexington, Stanley, Broyhill, and Lane.
Full size beds are a great solution for a small bedroom. Your bed is the focal point of the entire room, but in a small bedroom you want to avoid having the bed swallow the entire room. Even if you sleep alone, a full size bed makes much more of a statement in a room than a twin. A full size bed screams ‘adult’ when you open the bedroom door, whereas a twin bed belies the bedroom of a child. Full beds are also a good choice when outfitting a guest room or your adolescent’s room.

The difference in sizes between a twin and a king are obvious to even the untrained eye. But many people cannot discern between a full and a queen upon first glance. A full size bed measures 54 inches by 75 inches. A queen size bed is 60 inches by 80 inches. If this is the first full size bed in your home, you will need purchase full sized sheets and comforters for the mattress since a twin size bed is 39 inches by 75 inches.

Full size beds require bedding sized ‘full.’ All bedding is designed specifically for one size mattress and the bedding isn’t interchangeable. Even the pillows come in sizes. Twin and full size beds can trade pillows in a size called standard, but the sharing stops there. Full beds are also referred to as a ‘double bed.’ An advantage of full size beds is that all the bedding from the mattress pad cover to the bedspread are cheaper than the queen and the king sized bedding and linens.

Full size beds are 15 inches wider than a twin size bed, but when the bed is sleeping two people each person actually ends up with less sleeping space than if they were each in a twin bed, sleeping alone. That isn’t a lot of space and two adults in a full size bed may feel cramped and not rest nearly as well. Full beds will be most comfortable for one person sleeping alone when that person is 5’5” or shorter. But anyone taller than this height may find this bed too short and thus sleep awkwardly and painfully. Even when a full size bed is put into a child’s room, the child will likely sleep more comfortably and you’ll find that at tuck in time you have more space as well.

Full size beds can be purchased for all styles of frames. Platforms, sleigh beds, and even canopy beds all come in full sizes. You’ll want a bed frame to support your full size bed: mattress and box spring. A box spring is a wooden box encasing springs that support your full size bed, which rests on top. The box springs are the same size as the mattress.
